Zaha Hadid and Blohm+Voss Unique Circle Yacht Concept is a Masterpiece of Architecture and Naval Engineering
World renowned architects Zaha Hadid has entered the superyacht space with its jaw-dropping yacht which is the first in a series of five yachts to be built as part of its “Unique Circle Yachts” project.
The project is a collaboration between Zaha Hadid architects and Blohm+Voss shipbuilders based on Hamburg Germany. The 128-meter master prototype will eventually lead to the production of the four remaining vessels each to be at 90m in length.
The design is inspired by fluid dynamics and underwater ecosystems based on hydrodynamic research which led to the incredibly stylish hull design.
The exoskeleton exterior is an interwoven network of supports that vary in thickness giving the vessel the appearance of interwoven shoelaces. The design mimics natural marine formations and serves as structural support to connect the various level and decks of the vessel.
The superyacht is being designed for global operations with the first vessel following the 128m prototype to be a 90m version known as JAZZ. The 90m JAZZ will have further refinements from the prototype to address specific goal of ocean crossings.
The vessel beam is 16m (52ft), draught 4.2m (13ft) with a max speed of 16 knots and cruising speed of 14 knots with a global range of 5,000 miles. Propulsion will be achieved by two 2160 KW, diesel motors fitted by gearbox to fixed propellers.
The vessel is a blend of architecture and naval engineering. Zaha Hadid extensive architectural experience paired with Blohm+Voss extensive experience in naval engineering has created this masterpiece of a superyacht.
