Volcon Stag Electric UTV Off-Roader Can Reach speeds of 80mph and Tow 2,000 pounds
With everything becoming electric, its no secret that even off-roaders are going the battery way. All a part of the grand scheme to make the world greener and more eco-friendly by the year 2030. Powersports vehicles once the domain of huge gas-guzzling engines and enormous greenhouse gases is going the way of electric cars. The Volcon Stag Electric UTV Off-Roader is a prime example of where off-roaders are headed, and this one is pretty impressive for a battery operated vehicle.
Power & Performance
This all-wheel drive, all-electric UTV is impressive with its performance as it is with its stunning appearance. This is the kind of vehicle you take off road onto trails, rocks and desert terrains. After all, its precisely built just for that, but what separates the Volcon Stag from other UTV’s, is its impressive battery powers that enables it to reach top speed of 80 mph and its ability to tow up to 2,000 pounds.
That’s absolutely impressive for a battery operated UTV. The Stag is powered by a single electric motor that generates 125 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, which give it enormous power to tow heavy loads and achieve top speed on wide open terrains, free of obstacles of course. Every drop of power from the electric motor is transferred to the wheels the moment you place your foot on the pedal which makes this UTV highly responsive and fun to drive.
The electric motor is tethered to a 42kWh battery pack that gives it a range of 100 miles on a single charge. That said, the 100 mile range can only be achieved when operating the vehicle in ECO mode, which undoubtedly will not be used if you plan on running this thing over hard rocky terrain for the thrill and adventure of the ride. Onboard the UTV is a 7.2kW charger that can fully recharge the batteries in about six hours.
Optional paddle shifters enable it to enter overboost mode which allows the driver to get every bit of power from the motor up to 140 horses to be specific. Did we mention the Volcon Stag is an AWD buggy capable of tackling the roughest terrains? When it comes to terrain where careful navigation is a must, the Stag features a Crawl Mode that reduces power, while its low center of gravity, fully-adjustable shocks, and BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires allows the vehicle to safely navigate obstacles.
Towing Capacity
This is one UTV that can tow a ton of weight, up to 2,000 pounds. Why would you need that towing capacity in an off-road UTV? Well you may be planning on doing some long term camping in a remote location but make sure you bring an extra battery pack. In order to tow this enormous weight, the vehicle features a Tow Mode, that restricts maximum speed to build torque progressively while ensuring you the driver maintain optimal control of the buggy.
Besides its towing capacity, the Stag features a cargo bed in the rear that has up to 13.4 cubic feet of storage space for you to pack your camping bags or whatever you may need on your adventure runs. It’s large enough to hold enough cargo so you do not have to tow a trailer. The cargo space is further increased if the rear seats in the UTV are folded down.
Interior
The Volcon Stag is large enough to seat four people inside a roll cage. The rear seat can be folded down which increases the cargo space and decreases the number of passengers to two. The dashboard features two displays, one in front the driver and the other in the center. The panel in front the driver displays driving information, speed, battery strength, driving mode, etc. While the center display offers a camera view, off-road gauges, route planner and other essential information.
The Volcon Stag is one bad-ass all-electric off-roader that will undoubtedly cause a stir in the UTV market. It’s slated for delivery in the Summer of 2023 at a starting price of $39,999 per unit.
