Tyde and BMW Collaborate to Develop “The Open” The World’s Fastest Foiling Motor Yacht
German luxury yacht manufacturer Tyde is collaborating with BMW Designworks studio to produce “The Open”, the world’s fastest and largest foiling motor yacht. The collaboration plan to launch the “The Open” in the fall of 2024.
Aptly named “The Open”, the vessel is 48 foot in length and 15 foot in width with ample interior spacing for a spacious sleeping area, worktable, a large TV screen and a fully equipped bathroom below deck. A breezy open cockpit provides the pilot and guests with excellent 360-degree visibility.
The rear half of the cockpit is shaded with a roof dotted with solar panels that recharge onboard batteries. Under the shade is an area for booth dining with flanking sofas and table, a stern sun-pad-sofa and bathing platform.
“The Open” will be completely environmentally sustainable allowing passengers to travel gracefully over the waves at top speeds of up to 30 knots without the noise and emissions of traditional fossil fueled yachts and with a range of up to 50 nautical miles.
The most important feature of “The Open” is its hydrofoils beneath the surface that allows the vessel to rise out of the water and fly above the waves. The use of hydrofoils reduces energy consumption by up to 80 percent.
“The Open” is set to begin production in late December 2023 with the first deliveries expected in the fall of 2024.
