This Volanco Inspired Superyacht Concept is Inspired by Mount Vesuvius
This 262-foot superyacht concept known as Forge by Anthony Glasson of Design Studio M51 is inspired by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It’s an unusual design concept for a superyacht made to appear like Mount Vesuvius floating on the high seas.
To create the impression of a mountain, the vessel features an ice-class steel hull decked with a pointy pyramid-shaped aluminum superstructure finished in obsidian black. The decks are highly angular and colored in bright orange which gives the impression of lava flow.
This distinctive exterior is unlike anything on the water and lends to the creativity of M51 studio. The exterior of the vessel is not the only part impressive, the interior is just as stunning with high vaulted ceilings, a result of the superstructure’s conical shape.
The owner’s suite is located right at the pinnacle of the mountain on the upper deck and features panoramic glass ceiling for stargazing. The rest of the interior has been designed to be very simple according to Glasson which contrasts the spectacular exterior.
However, simplicity does not mean cheap, the interior includes a range of high-end materials and elegant furnishings fit for a superyacht of this magnitude. The yacht features an extensive walk-around bridge deck equipped with a molten lava staircase that leads to a swimming pool.
Other amenities include a gym, sauna, a day lounge, fold-out balconies, and a sensory deprivation tank that can be used as a quiet refuge. Of course a helipad is included and a full-beam garage to store toys and other tenders.
The Forge superyacht will be equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system that will give the vessel a range of 5,000 nautical miles. That’s more than enough distance to cover the globe and take in a real volcano if nature permits.
