This Futuristic Electric Motorcycle Has a Wooden Body Crafted From Curved Wood!

Electric cars are fast becoming mainstream but what happened to electric bikes? Arguably, electric bikes have been slower to hit the market because of fundamental problems in the design of motorcycles.  Motorcycle design has always been restricted by the power train which dictates the location of the gas tank, seat and other parts.  This has resulted in the design of motorcycles being pretty linear over the years with the power train aligned in a straight line to transfer power to the rear wheels from a crankshaft.

Without the mechanical and fuel clutter of conventional motorcycles, electric motorcycles will have more flexibility to allow radical designs unseen since the invention of the motorbike.  Newron, a French company is among the first to innovate electric motorcycles and break the traditional motorcycle design trend.  This innovative electric bike is made out of wood, not all of it but a substantial portion which in and of itself is a radical departure from the all metal heavy hulks that we have come to know as the traditional motorcycle.

With batteries gaining more capacity and longer life and electric motors becoming powerful we can envision a future of ultra-light electric bikes made of fiber glass or wood or a combination of both.  Motorcycles powered by batteries don’t need a gas tank which frees up space on the chassis that can be used for something else, say a digital display, similar to the large displays in Tesla vehicles.

Currently electric motorcycle design is not much different from their gasoline powered counterparts.  However, electric bikes are still in its infancy and as the technology becomes more adaptive and the restraints of internal combustion engine is removed from the equation, the designs will take on a radical new look that will set it apart from conventional bikes.

Newron is setting the pace with its new electric bike that still has the look of a conventional motorcycle but with clean lines, smooth corners and LED adorned accoutrements.  The company plans to partner with French firms Dassault and Advans to build the bikes.  Initial production batch of twelve will be available for sale sometime in early 2020.  Price tag is unknown but expect a large chunk of your wallet bitten off to enjoy this beauty.
