The New Yamaha Motoroid 2 Electric Bike is More of a Real-Life Companion Than a Road Bike
Yamaha has unveiled a self-riding electric motorbike known as the Motoroid 2. What’s unique about this bike is not that its electric but that it has no handlebars or other controls that are standard on motorbikes. This radical concept from Yamaha debuts cutting-edge technology that will be part of the next generation of road bikes.
The Motoroid is not a new concept with the original Motoroid 1 revealed in 2017 followed by the debut of the new Motoroid 2 in 2023. Unlike its predecessor, Yamaha has built a working protoype of the Motoroid 2.
The bike incorporates features such as gyroscopes and image recognition AI systems to remain self-balancing and navigate tight corners. One remarkable feature of the Motoroid 2 is the ability to ride itself without a rider.
The Motoroid 2 is so sophisticated that it can recognize its owner, get up off its kickstand and ride alongside its owner, the company has revealed. According to Yamaha the bike feels like a real-life companion instead of just a machine.
Yamaha plans to debut the prototype of the Motoroid 2 at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo next month. So far only a prototype has been built and It’s not clear whether Yamaha plans to release a production model of the bike, however its continued development suggests that the company is working to integrate at least some of its features into its lineup of future motorcycles.
