The New 275-HP Toyota GR Corolla is Set to Burn Up The Tracks in 2023
The long-awaited Toyota GR Corolla is set to burn up the tracks when it hits the market in 2023. The new GR Corolla adds to the growing lineup of Toyota’s racing performance vehicles and is at the cusp of cutting edge technology that Toyota is rolling out for its future cars and SUV’s.
The new GR Corolla is not a regular Toyota Corolla, it has a significantly more aggressive body appearance than the Toyota Corolla, with an expanded front grille, new bonnet vents, a massive rear spoiler, flared arches, and triple-exit exhausts being the most visible differences. The cosmetic upgrade is completed with performance alloy wheels, hefty brakes, and a hatchback design that is not only stylish but built aerodynamically for performance.
The new GR Corolla is very similar to the GR Yaris hence why it was decided to use the same powertrain as the Yaris, but with increased power from 257 to 275-hp making it more competitive with the Volkswagen Golf lineup.
As with the GR Yaris, power is sent to both axles via a six-speed manual transmission with an IMT (intelligent manual transmission) mode that effectively acts as a rev matching function for smoother downshifts. Meanwhile, torque vectoring allows the driver to change the power split between the axles from 50/50 to 30/70 in either direction to improve traction in any condition.
