The Lucid Air Electric Vehicle Aims to Dethrone Tesla with a 400-Mile Driving Range
How does an electric startup company compete with an established electric car company such as Tesla? The answer is to build an electric car with greater range than anything Tesla has on the market. Also, you out design the competition with a car that looks better than Tesla models.
All of the above is in the Lucid Air Electric Vehicle, a revolutionary electric car from a small startup that threatens to upend the electric car market with a car than can achieve a whopping 400-mile driving range. Not to mention, its design looks fabulous, unlike anything electric on the market.
How does Lucid accomplish this? Simply by making the battery pack the largest in the electric automotive industry. Lucid Air has two electric motors tethered to a 130kWh battery array that produces an astounding 1,000 hp enabling the Air to achieve 0 to 60 mph in only 2.5 seconds.
The electric motors are specially placed to disperse weight, optimize performance, and increase space-efficiency. The first motor is integrated with the HVAC and suspension systems on the front. While the second motor is placed aft integrated with the transmission and suspension in the rear.
The Air has self-driving tech which is also integrated in new Tesla models. Other features include self-adjusting headlights, voice-activated vehicle systems, an enormous interior cabin that rivals luxury sedans, reclining rear seats up to 55 degrees and a 29-speaker audio system.
With pricing close to $100,000 per unit, the Lucid Air is priced to compete with the higher end Tesla models on the market.
