The Hill HX50 The World’s First Private Helicopter is a Revolution in Personal Aviation
British aviation company Hill Helicopters has unveiled the Hill HX50 which it claims to be the “worlds first fully private helicopter” that it promises will revolutionize personal aviation in the near future.
The HX50 is designed primarily for the private aviation market allowing owners to operate independently of charter firms. The company’s emphases on private owner independence is demonstrated with each owner being invited to the factory in the UK to work with a team of engineers to create their dream helicopter. Moreover, if you are the type that likes to get into the building action, the company allows the owner to build up to 51% of the aircraft under close supervision of engineers.
The design of the helicopter is absolutely stunning with retractable landing gears, clean aerodynamic corners and a general appearance that is slightly similar to the Bell 222 helicopter from the famous 80’s television series Airwolf. It’s equipped with a 3-blade rotor and a GT50 Turboshaft engine which can generate up to 400 hp. The helicopter has a cruising speed of 161 mph and a range of up to 806 miles.
The interior cabin is plush with leather embellished seats and can accommodate five persons. It’s full surround glass canopy gives pilot and passengers and unrestricted view of the outside. The flight deck is all-digital, with two 15-inch instrument panels and an iPad that displays all the information the pilot needs to fly the aircraft.
The HX50 price tag will be roughly in the range of $650,000 per unit with add-ons incurring additional charges. The first production model is set to start in 2023 with deliveries depending on the date of order placement.
