Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas The Largest Cruise Ship Ever Built Completes Sea Trials
The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas successfully completed initial rounds of sea trials sailing the open ocean for the first time since its construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
The Icon of the Seas is five times the size of the Titanic and measures an astonishing 1,198 feet from bow to stern. The first round of sea trials was very successful, and the second phase of sea trials will begin later this year before the vessel makes its maiden voyage to Florida.
The enormous Icon of the Seas will carry 7,600 passengers in 18 guest decks, and 2,805 staterooms. Icon will also have one of the largest waterparks to ever be built on a vessel with six record-breaking waterslides and seven enormous pools. The Frightening Bolt will be the tallest waterslide ever built on a cruise ship. While Pressure Drop will be the first open freefall waterslide on a cruise ship.
Royal Caribbean plans to debut the vessel in Miami Florida in January 2024 where it will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.
