NARO-TARTARUGA AUTONOMOUS ROBOT SEA TURTLES COULD HELP TO KEEP THE OCEAN SAFE AND CLEAN
We’d choose a robot sea turtle over a robot that can help you around the house or even one that will make factories more friendly every day of the week. The Naro-Tartaruga, a machine inspired by turtles that could swim effectively while toting cargo in its shell, is being developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Although the actual design is currently an aluminum cylindrical tank with a few flippers, idea designs have included the realistic turtle looking robot in the image above. The turtle-bot can travel at a top speed of almost 7 knots, that’s faster than a real sea turtle and its large torso includes room for the battery and sensors required for autonomous operation.
