Jacob & Co. $20 Million Yellow Diamond Watch is Not For Those with Shallow Pockets
Fit for a billionaire, this $20 Million yellow diamond watch by Jacob & Co. recently unveiled in Geneva Switzerland not only turned heads but stunned watch collectors the world over.
Unveiled during the Watches & Wonders exhibition, the yellow diamond watch quickly became the focus of discussion at the exhibition.
This extravagant piece of jewelry fit for those with extremely deep pockets is made with ultra-rare yellow diamonds. The price is reflective of the rarity of yellow diamonds and the slow and arduous task of sourcing, cutting, and setting them within a gold bracelet.
Besides the time investment in creating an intricate bracelet made of gold and yellow diamonds, the engineering that went into creating the tourbillon watch that will tell the time is another story by itself that will not be covered in this article.
The entire process of sourcing and designing the watch took three and a half years with the bulk of that time devoted to sourcing yellow diamonds of the same color and quality.
A special team of 10 people assembled by Jacob & Co. sourced, sorted, and cut the gems while intricately arranging them in the bracelet, bezel, dial and crown of the watch.
With a price range of $20 Million it might be expected that a watch of this magnitude would be a hard sell. However, nothing could be further from the truth, similar watches have been sold over the years and are on the wrists of some very important people worldwide.
