Decadence is a 264-foot Catamaran Yacht Concept Inspired By 1920s Racing Automobiles
Andy Waugh’s new outrageous concept is a 264-foot Catamaran yacht concept inspired by racing automobile designs from the 1920s era. At first glance, one can clearly see where the inspiration comes from, the entire vessel looks like a giant vintage automobile afloat on the water.

Aptly named Decadence, the vessel captures the essence of 1920’s motor racing with its eccentric design features. The non-conventional design features a specially designed hull known as SWATH. Cylindrical, submerged floats are attached to the above-water part of the boat by four lateral structures that resemble automobile wheels.

The design offers excellent stability and cruising comfort by reducing rolling and pitching movements. With its spacious dimensions, Decadence has enough space for a massive owner’s suite with each deck able to be closed off from the outside. A feature that offers privacy and protection from the elements. There is also space for two chase boat tenders at the rear of the vessel.

Crew areas are in the submerged hulls while the main hull above water is reserved for guests and entertainment. Within the cylindrical hulls resembling wheels are retractable sails that can be deployed to optimize propulsion.

Active propulsion is yet to be determined but Waugh plans to equip the Decadence yacht with a new propulsion system that will be fitted in the cylindrical hulls, to reduce energy consumption.

Decadence is just a concept, though Waugh hopes to find a prospective buyer with a budget of around $268 million that will fund the construction of the vessel. If a millionaire prospect is willing to invest, construction will take approximately four years to complete.
