Remember the ubiquitous Ford Escort Mk1 RS limited edition? Now Boreham Motorworks is bringing back this iconic automobile fifty years on from the final limited edition, high-performance variant of the Ford Escort, the Mk1 RS-lineage, the Mk1 RS2000.
The company is offering a limited run of 150 cars worldwide for this iconic model with continuation chassis numbers. The Escort Rallye Sport line was well known for exceptional handing and performance and set the standard for what a high-performance car should feel like. Boreham intends to honor this legacy, blending modern advancements with raw driving experience that made the RS Escorts performance icons.
The new RS2000 is a blueprint-accurate, period-sympathetic vehicle built new with approved chassis numbers from the original manufacturer. Combining the timeless spirit of classic cars with modern engineering, design, and advanced manufacturing.
The model will come in two distinct engine choices that celebrate the Ford RS legacy. The first option will be standard with the Mk1 RS, is a reimagined Twin Cam engine expanded to 1845cc, delivering 185PS via a precise fuel injection system. The engine will be paired with a four-speed manual “Ford Bullet” straight-cut gearbox.
The second engine option is a road-tuned 2.1-liter powerhouse weighing less than 85kg and boasting a high-revving capability of up to 10,000 RPM. This engine produces 300PS with additional features such as forged steel conrods, a billet crankshaft, advanced fuel injection, electronic throttle control and a titanium exhaust system. This engine is paired with a five-speed dogleg gearbox for direct engagement and perfectly balanced gear ratios.
Further motorsport-inspired enhancements include Alan Mann Racing’s cooling slots on the lower front panel, rectangular LED headlamps, and Boreham-engineered reinforcements to the core body structure to improve torsional stiffness. The lightweight carbon-fiber bonnet and boot lid, equipped with support stays, complement the design, along with a tinted glass option featuring heated front and rear screens.
Pricing starts from £295,000 with a 2-year 20,000-mile warranty.
