INTERSTELLAR LAB EBIOS IS A SELF-SUSTAINING, CARBON-NEUTRAL VILLAGE THAT CAN HOUSE UP TO 100 PEOPLE
Living on Mars is a completely different matter than getting there. Interstellar Lab built an Experimental Bio-Regenerative Station (EBIOS) on Earth to familiarize astronauts in their preparation for life on Mars. The EBIOS is a self-sustaining, carbon-neutral town that can house up to 100 people inside interconnected domes.
The Paris-based company collaborated with NASA to create water purification and plant growth systems for the EBIOS. The facility is located in the Mojave Desert where the conditions closely mirror those on the surface of Mars. In addition, the facility will function as a science and research center for six months once the project is finished, and then it will be open to visitors for the remaining twelve months.
