Horizon Aircraft Cavorite X5 is an Otherworldly Looking eVTOL Concept
Horizon Aircraft Cavorite X5 has been turning heads ever since it unveiling last year. The Toronto-base company unveiled this extraordinary looking eVTOL to an industry getting accustomed to smooth lines and body contours. The aircraft which looks like something out of a transformer movie, features canard wings and can take off and land like a conventional aircraft.

Built into the wings are 16-ducted fans that provide the aircraft’s vertical lift. Once vertical lift is achieved, the wing folds and the aircraft transitions to cruising like a normal aircraft with the ability to fly up 98% of its voyage in this configuration.

With the 15 feet long scale model unveiled, the company is moving forward with a full-scale version of the eVTOL which will be powered by a hybrid-electric system that will recharge on-board batteries in flight. The company hopes to raise enough cash to cover the production of the full-scale version as well as covering the costs of the extensive FAA certification process. With those obstacles behind, Horizon hopes to have the aircraft certified and ready to fly by 2025.
