Amphicruiser is an Amphibious 4WD SUV That is Based on The Toyota Land Cruiser
Built around a Toyota Land Cruiser engine, the Amphicruiser is a state-of-the art 4×4 fully-fledged on and off-road cruiser that can be driven on land, up a river or out to sea. Yes, you read that correctly, it can be driven on a river or out to sea. This revolutionary vehicle fulfills the decades long dream for a vehicle that can travel on both land and water. The Amphicruiser is an ambitious amphibious vehicle with the capability to operate on land and water.

While there are many different kind of amphibious vehicles currently on the market, the Amphicruiser is quite different. This is not the kind of vehicle that will fly across the water or land at top speeds like some other amphibious vehicles you have seen. The Amphicruiser is more focused on rock-solid reliability, practicality and built for either leisure or commercial applications.

The vehicle is built around a 4.2 liter Toyota Land Cruiser engine and performs like any other 4×4 on land. Once in the water, propulsion is achieved by the press of a button which turns on a waterjet system that propels the vehicle at a modest 8 mph (13 km/h).

The appearance of the vehicle looks somewhat like an old Range Rover from the famous cross-country Camel Trophy expeditions from the 80’s. It’s not the kind of vehicle that soccer moms will want as an everyday vehicle but then again it’s not designed for that purpose. The doors of the vehicle are at standard height, and are made waterproof by inflatable seals which adds to the buoyancy of the vehicle while its on the water.

Built by Dutch Amfibious Transport (DAT), the vehicle is entirely hand-built to precision, that means only a limited amount of units are made. Retail price for the vehicle is expected to be at €130,000 (US$180,000) for a 2-door soft top and goes all the way up to €180,000 (US$248,700) for a 4-door, fully equipped version.
