Jaguar’s Type 00 Concept EV is a Statement in Modern Styling
The British luxury brand Jaguar is rebranding itself as a company dedicated to producing not only gas-powered cars but electric cars as well. The new Jaguar Type 00 concept is the company’s latest addition to the litany of electric vehicles set to debut over the coming years from automakers both domestic and international including new players on the block.
The name is a play on Jaguar’s vision for the future of the company. The past E-type gas-powered and its future as a competitive manufacturer of zero-emissions electric vehicles. The Type 00 was designed to go to head-to-head with EV models emerging from Mercedes and BMW.
The design is classic Jaguar styling with an extremely long hood and a short fastback profile in keeping with the company’s design ethics over the past decades. The vehicle’s front looks synonymous with famous bat mobile from the Dark Knight films. It features a veiled horizontally slotted grille with the “Jaguar” name emblazoned within. Laser thin headlights and turn signals are spread out towards the ends of the front giving the vehicle a wide flat appearance.
The rear of the vehicle is decorated with the same; albeit wider grill that adorns the front. The interior of the Type 00 is nothing we have seen before, with an ultra-minimalist layout featuring three brass lines that envelop and separate passengers. Astonishingly, the flat panel displays are hidden within the dash and emerge from the dash when the vehicle is occupied.
The Type 00 is a revolutionary departure for Jaguar from traditional autos to new high-end EV’s which is increasingly becoming the focus of global automakers. It also marks the company’s debut into the global EV market with limited-production models.
