The Nissan Max-Out EV Concept Is an Electric Roadster That Looks Like a Throwback to 1985
Unveiled during Nissan’s Future Event, where the automaker outlined its plans for the future of sustainable mobility and innovative design, the new Max-Out EV concept is in keeping with the company’s desire to transform to an all-electric future.
The Max-Out concept is not new, it first appeared in 2021 as a sign of where things were heading at Nissan. Now this radical ultra-futuristic EV that looks more like a throwback to 1985, is moving from concept to reality.
Maybe this is the kind of vehicle you would expect to see on the road in 2034. However, if Nissan has its way, this may be coming to road near you much sooner. The Max-Out convertible EV coupe features design and technology that is far beyond anything we would expect on a roadgoing vehicle today.
To name a few, the front grille of the car is a large screen that hosts a glowing lighting array. Interior wise, the same lighting features continue with glowing, color changing, LED lighting decking out most of the interior. The rear of the vehicle features a full width taillight that continues the ultra-futuristic design aesthetic.
Nissan states that the Max-Out convertible will be an ultra-lightweight EV with a low center of gravity and sharp handling. The Max-Out will use the same all-wheel-drive advanced e-40RCE drivetrain that was previously tested on an experimental Nissan Leaf in 2019. The electric drivetrain will boast 304 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque.
Nissan has always been on the cutting-edge of radical designs and the new Max-Out is no exception. While there are plans to produce this vehicle, it’s unclear what the demand for it will be and that could determine whether it outlasts its competitors or dies a sudden death.
